Tunes From Teesdale

As part of the on-going revival of folk song and dance traditions in the Teesdale area, Music at the Heart of Teesdale’s youth folk band, Cream Tees, have recorded a new CD.  As a means of setting in stone some of their favourite songs and tunes from the last 12 months of practise and performance across the north east and beyond, the band worked with renowned folk musician Ian  Stephenson at the Coquetdale Music Trust in Thropton, Northumberland over two days in June 2018 to create their new record.

The CD features songs and tunes recorded by famous folklorists Ralph Vaughn Williams in the 1900s and later by Alan Lomax in the 1950s on their trips to Teesdale as well as original compositions and contemporary arrangements of traditional songs developed by the band
