CIF Round Three – Agri[culture], Wideyed

Agri[Culture], a project by Wideyed photography collective.   Initiated in 2018, it documents eight annual agricultural shows within the Northern Heartlands area. The funding was to develop the work further through public engagement. Working with partners such as show committees, local history groups and heritage organisations, Wideyed combined collected archive material generated through public participation with their contemporary photography into a travelling exhibition, participatory experience, and legacy publication. Housed within an agricultural trailer, the project toured selected shows throughout 2019. This innovative project served as a starting point for conversations about cultural identity and sense of place. Through it, show visitors were invited to reflect on the culture of these long standing local traditions, and contributed to an evolving exhibition, via a popup portrait gallery.
